Scabies itching and scabies face

Because it looks like eczema, psoriasis or rashes caused by insect bites, sometimes the itch is misdiagnosed. The presence of mites is often detected only after the finding of ineffectiveness of prescribed ointments against these other diseases. Intense itching, even when the rash is barely visible, is another characteristic of scabies. Carpets, rugs, bedding ... mites are everywhere! Generally, they do not bother us too much, unless you are allergic or asthmatic. But Sarcoptes scabiei is more villain than the others: it is the head of scabies. Scabies is a contagious disease that spreads through contact with an infected individual. The spread of the parasite is favored by life in community as well as the lack of hygiene. However, cases of scabies can occur in all socio-economic classes.

Scabies transmission

The transmission of scabies requires direct contact with an infected person, particularly in sexual partners. Cases of indirect transmission (for bedding or clothing) are rare except in cases of profuse scabies, a severe form of the disease, which may affect immunocompromised individuals. The mite female, the mite responsible for scabies, moves into the upper layers of the skin and dig small tunnels, grooves, where it lays its eggs (3 to 4 per day). The female died after 30 to 60 days. Then the newly hatched larvae float to the surface of the skin and become adults after 2 to 3 weeks. They in turn fertilize new females and the cycle begins again. In common scabies, the number of parasites on the body is about ten.
